Action Role-Playing Game

​

Horizon II Forbidden West is an action roleplaying game and sequel to the 2017 Horizon Zero Dawn.  

​

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the United States and takes place 6 months after the first game. Players take control of the protagonist Aloy in her quest to restore the planet's deteriorating biosphere.

 

On her journey, Aloy encounters a variety of environments, nomadic tribes, and deadly machines. 

 

Players use a wide variety of weapons, tools, and skills to overcome the challenges Aloy faces during her adventures to save the World.

Below is a list of my contributions to the project:

​

  • Created the Low-Level Design Documents for Multiple Enemy Machines with collaborative feedback from the Lead Combat Designer.

  • Collaborated with Lead and Principal Combat Designers, Animators, Technical Designers, AI Programmers, and VFX Artists to integrate multiple aspects of over 40 enemy Machines and their variants.

  • Updated and maintained all returning Machines from the first game to be in line with the design changes for the sequel. 

  • Integrated Enemy Machines with custom configurations for special setpiece encounters.

  • Maintained and aided in the balancing of enemy Machines over the course of production.

  • Created Low-Level Systems Design Documents with collaborative feedback from the Lead and Principal combat Designers.

  • Created Low-Level Design Documents for combat-centric interactive objects with collaborative feedback from the Lead Combat Designer. 

  • Collaborated with the Principal Combat Designer and Tools Programmers to maintain and improve a critical tool within the engine used by multiple teams.
